Who out there doesn't still remember the famous Egyptian band "LES PETITS CHATS" the band of the good old days, the band which was a part of Egypt's pop music culture? From 1967 to 1997, Les Petits Chats had numerous musicians play on the band who have grown near and dear to all of our hearts. Popular names such as Wagdy Francis (the great singer & band leader), Doctor Sobhy Bidair -- the internationally famous tenor -- and other great musicians such as Doctor Ezzat Abu Ouf who played the keyboards, or Omar Khayrat who played the drums.
The band also had several singers such as the famous Sadek Gallini, Talaat Zein, and Hussein Serag Rady. And who can forget George Lucas who was the only Saxophonist & Flutist the band ever had?
There were also many others like Hany Shenouda, Hany Meimary, Ashraf Mahrous, Nabil Ali Maher, Ezz Dakroury, and Ahmed Youssef who played the organ & keyboards. Freddy Rizk, Berge Anderesian, the late Omar Khorshid, Tarek Hammouda, and Pino Fares all played the lead guitar. Did you know Pino Fares was with the band over 20 years? And Taymour Koutah played bass guitar as did Kamel Waheeb and Mounir Shemaly. On the drums there were people like Nagy Kamel, Morad Metry, and the late Haytham Shallah.
Later, if you can remember, many others also joined the band: Hany Koutah, Ahmed Ragab who played bass guitar in the 80s, the songwriter and music producer Tarek Madkour who joined the band in 1986 and played until 1988. Then there was Maged Yehia who played bass guitar for a short while after Mounir left to Italy, and was replaced by Akram Abd Allah.
Valerie was one of the two female singers ever who joined the band in 1984. I think she was Irish. The other female singer was Rula Zaki with her unforgettable magical voice. She came in 1996, after Wagdy and Hany had already left the band.
Over the years, the band also had the occasion to host several internationally acclaimed guest performers who appeared with them on stage, famous people such as Peppino Di Capri and Demis Roussos to name just a few...
Les Petits Chats disbanded in 1997 until their reunion in 2001...
The site is dedicated to the band Les Petits Chats and all its legendary members who entertained us for many many years. Let the good memories live forever.
